Heating Elements
Cartridge Heaters
Cartridge Elements offer an exceptionally high heating power in confined space. They are designed to heat up steel parts by inserting the cartridge into a close-fitting bore, machined into the steel part.
Cartridges are widely used in the Plastics Industry (hotrunner systems, moulds), the Packaging Industry (sealing, welding, and cutting), the Textile Industry (cutting, sealing, embossing) and in the Die-casting Industry (heating of the gooseneck).
Any cartridge heater can be supplied with built-in Thermocouple for applications where there is insufficient space to mount a separate temperature sensor.
Coil Heaters
Coil heaters offer a uniform distribution of heating power in confined space.
High heating power, slim construction, small bending radius and good durability against mechanical damage are making coil heaters the element of choice for many tricky applications.
Our range of coil heater can be supplied in straight sticks for bending and insertion into machined grooves on the tool.
Band Heaters: Mica & Ceramic
Band Heaters are primarily used on injection moulding and extrusion machines in the plastic industry. Other applications include packaging machines and general heating of containers, pipes.
A distinctive feature of these elements is even heat distribution over a large surface area.
Construction consists of heating wire, insulated with either mica-plates or ceramic formers. The elements are usually metal shrouded for mechanical strength.
Flat Elements & Box Heaters
Flat Elements and Box Heaters are primarily used on extruder and blowmoulding heads in the Plastics Industry. Other applications include packaging machines and general heating of containers, pipes and flat metal surfaces.
A distinctive feature of these elements is even heat distribution over a large surface area.
Construction consists of heating wire, insulated with either Mica-plates or ceramic formers. The elements are usually metal encapsulated for mechanical strength.
Rod Elements
Rod elements are widely used in industry for convection heating, conduction heating and also for radiation heating.
Heating rods are versatile because they
- can be bent into any shape
- operate at high temperatures (up to 650°C)
- can be immersed into liquids.
The robust metal-sheathed construction ensures safety (electrical insulation) and protection against moisture and dirt.
Flexible Rod Elements
Flexible rod heaters can be bent into very specific shapes without the need for special bending jigs.
It is extensively used for heating the plastic flow channels on hot runner manifolds and to focus heat in the specific area on the sealing plates used for bonding and cutting plastic.
Sealed Nozzle Elements
Sealed nozzles elements are primarily used in confined areas where spillages can occur.
A common application is on plastic moulding machines where space is restricted and leakage is frequent.
The inner windings are protected from the plastic spillage due to the design and “sealed” construction of the outer housing.
Ceramic Withdrawables
Ceramic withdrawable elements are used for heating of gas or liquid and also for melting of solids such as wax and lead.
The ceramic element is inserted into a pipe which is mounted into the container to be heated.
The advantage of this heating method is that elements can be removed from the pipe without having to drain the container. This is of particular relevance when substances are frozen in the unheated state
(e.g. wax). By carefully selecting a suitable pipe material and thickness, a very durable heating system is obtained.

Air Heaters
Air Heaters
We manufacture custom-designed process air, gas and convection heaters, air duct heaters, finned elements .
Most of our heating solutions are employed in heating of air or other gases in ducts, autoclaves, or ovens for many industrial heat applications. For instance, our designs optimize the heating of air fed into combustion and prevent condensation.
Sheathed tubular, finned tubular, and finned strip elements consistently outperform gas, oil, and open coil electric units in both heating efficiency and safety.
Infrared Heaters
Infrared Heaters
Infrared heat is an excellent non-contact heat source and is thus used in applications involving delicate surfaces, for pre-heating, softening, curing and drying.
Since infrared heaters (IR heaters) transfer heat by infrared light,
gasses from solvents or steam can be freely extracted without loss of energy.
Drum & Container Heaters
Drum and Container Heaters
Catering for your various surface heating applications, our range of drum and container heating equipment features a selection of off-the-shelf heating appliances that have become an industry standard in the field of materials handling.
Ranging from flexible heating jackets, for various drum capacities and Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) heaters through induction drum heaters and base heaters, we have the right heating product for your application
– even for use in hazardous areas.
Temperature sensors
Temperature Sensors
Temperature as a physical variable is most often measured in industry as it often directly influences the quality of products and systems across various applications.
In order to achieve the correct accuracy of measurements required, we manufactures all types of temperature sensors to customer specifications and offer a selection of thermowells to protect your temperature sensors in hazardous areas.
Resistive thermal devices (RTDs such as Pt100s) are temperature sensors that exploit the predictable change in electrical resistance of some materials with changing temperature.
Thermocouples (T/C type J, K, T….) are temperature sensors that are made of 2 dissimilar metals and produce a millivolt signal in proportion to temperature.
A Thermowell (also known as Thermocouple pocket) isolates the temperature sensor from the process medium (gas, liquid…), allowing the sensor to be removed without compromising either the process or the environment.
Our factories produce thermowells to customer specification.
Manufacturing capabilities include various sheath materials and solid-bar construction, catering for hazardous and high-pressure applications.
Process Control
Controllers & Indicators
Our vast range of specialised temperature controllers and process indicators offer exceptional versatility due to the wide selection of sensor input options, functions and hardware configuration.
Input type, alarm types and the function of the keys on the faceplate are software selectable.
Solid State Relays
Solid state switching devices are used in most modern automation systems to switch electrical loads. They offer high durability where a high number of switching operations or a fast switching speed is required.
Further benefits are resistance to mechanical shock or vibration, moisture and dust as well as silent operation, maintenance free service and reduction of electromagnetic noise.
Switching is initiated by applying a low DC signal (typically 4-32VDC, 4mA) to the trigger input, placing less demand on control outputs and enhancing safety.
SSRs are normally “zero crossover switching“, only closing or opening when the AC power sine wave crosses zero. This eliminates electromagnetic interference and harmonics on the power supply.
Transducers
Melt Pressure Transducers
Pressure transducers
Industrial pressure transducers and transmitters by Gefran measure fluid, liquid or gas pressure in all industrial applications.
Thanks to highly stable electronic components, pressure transmitters can be also used in applications requiring long distance signal transmission or in smart control systems.
Linear Displacement Transducers
Rectilinear displacement transducers are used to measure the travel of sliding or moving parts.
Typical fields of use are
plastics injection moulding machines as well as pneumatic or hydraulic installations.
